Abstract:
PURPOSE: To form a three-dimensionally curved cylindrical car body structural member in such a manner that its wall surfaces are not cracked.
CONSTITUTION: The metallic structure of an aluminum cylindrical member 11 is made into a fibrous structure extending in an extrusion direction at the time of extruding the member. The cylindrical member 12 curved in the perpendicular plane is thereafter obtd. by bending. Next, the wall surfaces of the cylindrical member 12 are pressed in a perpendicular direction and horizontal direction by metal molds, by which the cylindrical member 13 having the sectional shape deformed from a circular shape to an approximately rectangular shape is obtd. Further, the cylindrical member 13 is subjected to an annealing treatment, by which the metal mold structure thereof is made into fine and equiaxed recrystal grains; thereafter, the cylindrical member 13 is subjected to bulging to load pressure within the cylindrical member 13 in the state of preserving the cylindrical member within the metal molds, by which the wall surfaces thereof are brought into tight contact with the metal molds and are deformed in their sectional shape to a rectangular shape.
