Abstract:
PURPOSE:To obtain a hydroxyl-terminated polymer useful as a polyol component for the production of polyurethanes by using a process for polymerizing an epoxy compound through ring opening with the aid of a compound metal cyanide complex as a catalyst in the presence of an initiator, wherein a specified compound is used as the epoxy compound. CONSTITUTION:A process for polymerizing an epoxy compound through ring opening with the aid of a compound metal cyanide complex (e.g. cobalt zinc cyanide/glyme complex) in the presence of an initiator, desirably a hydroxy compound (e.g. novolac phenolic resin), wherein said epoxy compound partially or wholly consists of an epihalohydrin (e.g. epichlorohydrin).
