Abstract:
To provide production processes for glyoxylic ester and its hydrate.
This relates to production processes for glyoxylic ester and its hydrate where a water-soluble salt of monoester of maleic or fumaric acid or their mixture is allowed to react with ozone in an aqueous solution at 0-50°C, then the responding glyoxylic ester or its hydrate is isolated from the reaction mixture.
