PURPOSE: To improve the disintegration of coating membrane by adding a neutral or basic amino acid to a specific polyprenyl compound having markedly anti-inflammatory action with low toxicity and producing hard capsules using the mixture.
CONSTITUTION: When hard capsules containing polyprenyl compound of formula I (n is 1, 2, 3; R is methyl or formula II) are produced, a neutral or basic amino acid such as glycine, alanine, valine, leucine or arginine, especially glycine, alanine or valine is added to the prenyl compound in an amount of 0.1 to 2.0wt.%, or more than 0.3wt.%, when the prenyl compound contains more than 1.0wt.% of impurities and decomposition products, whereby the amines or carbonyls in gelatin causing bad disintegration behaviors are inactivated to improve the disintegration of the hard capsules.
