Abstract:
PURPOSE:To obtain a specular surface having high quality, hardness and corrosion resistance at a low cost, by subjecting the side part of an Al alloy base material of a polygonal shape having the side part consisting of many small planes to a pretreatment for plating then depositing an Ni-P alloy thereon by electroplating and finishing the plating surface to a mirror-like surface by polishing. CONSTITUTION:The side part of an Al alloy base material of an octagonal shape having the side part consisting of, for example, octagon small planes is subjected to a pretreatment, for plating thereby forming a pretreatment film 2 for plating thereon. An Ni-P alloy is deposited on the film 2 by electroplating so that an Ni-P alloy plating film 3 is formed. The electroplating is accomplished under the conditions of 1-2pH, 40-60 deg.C soln. temp. and 1-10A/dm<3> current density in a plating soln. consisting essentially of an Ni salt such as nickel sulfate, nickel carbonate, nickel chloride or the like and phosphoric acid and phosphorous acid. The plating surface is then finished to a mirror-like surface by polishing, whereby the high speed scanning member of a polygonal shape is obtd.
