Title:
PRODUCTION OF IMPLANT MATERIAL
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH028370
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To produce the title implant material having excellent affinity for organisms and strength by adding a P compd. and a Ca compd. to a soln. of hydrolyzed alkyl silicate to obtain a sol, applying the sol on a titanium alkoxide- coated metal, drying, and calcining the sol.

CONSTITUTION: When a metal surface is coated with bioglass, a phosphorus compd. (phosphoric acid, etc.) and a calcium compd. (calcium ethoxide, etc.) are firstly added to a soln. of hydrolyzed alkyl silicate to prepare a sol. A soln. of titanium alkoxide is applied on the surface of a metal (stainless steel, etc.), and then dried. The sol is applied on the obtained coated metal, dried, and then calcined at an appropriate temp. As a result, the metal surface can be firmly coated with the bioglass, hence an implant material having excellent affinity for organisms and strength is obtained, and the material is useful as artificial teeth and bones.
