Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an isothiocyanate compound having functional groups such as a hydroxyl group in the same molecule and useful as a raw material for synthesizing medicines, agricultural chemicals, etc., and as an antibacterial agent and an antifungal agent.
SOLUTION: An amino compound of the formula: R1-NH2 (R1 is a linear paraffin, an olefin, an alkyne, a cycloparaffin, a cycloolefin, an aromatic ring, a heterogeneous compound, etc.,) is reacted with carbon dioxide in the presence of a base (e.g. NaOH), and the obtained dithiocarbamic acid of the formula (M is H, an alkali metal, ammonium) or its salt is reacted with hydrogen peroxide in a solvent (e.g. THF) at 0-40°C to obtain the isothiocyanate compound of the formula: R1-NCS. The carbon disulfide and the base are used in amounts of 1-10 times equivalents and 0.2-2 times equivalents, respectively, per equivalent of the amino group in the amino compound, and the hydrogen peroxide is used in an amount of ≥1.0 times equivalent per equivalent of the dithiocarbamic acid.
