Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a method capable of producing a lactone with a high selectivity from a cyclic ketone by using inexpensive acetaldehyde.
CONSTITUTION: In a method for producing a lactone by reacting a cyclic ketone with acetaldehyde in the presence of an oxygen-containing gas, this production method is carried out by allowing the reaction to take place in the presence of a soluble divalent nickel salt catalyst.
