Abstract:
PURPOSE:To produce the subject lithium niobate single crystal containing reduced defects. CONSTITUTION:In the drawing-up method production of a lithium niobate single crystal by heating a polycrystalline lithium niobate accommodated in a crucible 11a in correspondence with an output power from a high-frequency oscillator 32 by a work coil 12 attached to the outer peripheral side of the crucible 11a and capable of vertical movement, fusing it, drawing up a prescribed amount of the resultant fused liquid from the upper surface thereof while allowing it to solidify, growing the lithium niobate single crystal and controlling the diameter of the drawn-up and growing lithium niobate single crystal by movement of the work coil 12 due to the gravimetric method and the output power of the high-frequency oscillator 32, the rate of movement of the work coil 12 is controlled so that the output power of the high-frequency oscillator 32 may be constant.
