PURPOSE: To provide the subject system having a reel file section, shift/daily file sections, etc., and adaptable to applying correspondingly the data for a paper machine control unit for the purpose of production management activities.

CONSTITUTION: This production management system works as follows: with a frame of paper produced in papermaking/coating process as one unit, information including measurements, set values and operation magnitudes is managed at a reel file section 30; within a predetermined operation period of time, process information is recorded at shift/daily file sections 40, 41; the process information for each paper description is recorded in a grade file section 50; when the paper description is to be changed, the information about the description before changed in the reel file section 30 is forwarded to the grade file section 50; and when a previously designated time comes as operation unit, a timing control section 60 instructs the reel file section 30 to forward the information therein to the shift/daily file sections 40, 41; as to the information thus forwarded, a data processing control section 70 manages the processing of the information for the shift/daily file sections 40, 41 and the grade file section 50 on a case-by- case basis.
