Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently and stably obtain a ribbon-like material from a high- quality and fashionable elastic yarn which is soft and excellent in touch by heating and pressing a multifilament of an elastic polymer and modifying a cross-sectional shape and a surface shape.
SOLUTION: A multifilament of an elastic polymer such as synthetic rubber, polyester elastomer or polyurethane is heated and pressed by a pressing member having a channel of an arbitrary shape to house the multifilament at a temperature equal to or higher than the softening point of the polymer. At least one of the cross-sectional shape and the surface shape is modified into a flat, a polygonal, a star, a horseshoe, an elliptic, a semicircular shape, etc.
