Abstract:
PURPOSE: The heating of phthalonitrile is conducted in the presence of a specific organic strong base in an organic compound having hydroxyls at a low temperature to produce phthalocyanine under mild conditions in high yield.
CONSTITUTION: Phthalonitrile and/or its halogen-substituted derivative or its alkyl-substituted derivative is heated in the presence of 1,8-diazabicyclo[5.4.0] undecene-7 and/or 1,5-diazabicyclo[4.3.0]nonene-5 in an organic compound bearing hydroxyls, preferably in a 1W8C primary alcohol at 97W138°C for 30min to 24hr, e.g., under the alcohol refluxing, to give a phthalocyanine.
