Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a composition for e.g. artificial marble, nonproblematic in the formation of apparent defects such as whitening, bubbles, hollows, etc., caused by the residual air and desirable for e.g. press molding by deaerating a clayish resin composition comprising a monomer component based on a methacrylic ester, a methacrylic ester resin, an inorganic filler and a curing agent under a specified or lower diminished pressure.
SOLUTION: 100 pts.wt. monomer component based on a methacrylic ester, 10-400 pts.wt. methacrylic ester resin having a weight-average molecular weight of 50,000-600,000, 50-500 pts.wt. inorganic filler having a particle diameter of 0.1-100 μm and optionally 5-200 pts.wt. reinforcing monofilaments and/or 2-250 pts.wt. methacrylic partially crosslinked gel-like polymer are kneaded at 65-120°C to obtain a clayish product. This product and 1-10 pts.wt. curing agent fed into a twin-screw extruder through its middle feed port are kneaded, and the mixture is extruded under cooling through a perforated plate having an entire opening area of 0.03-5 cm2 and having at least one hole into a vacuum chamber at 500 Torr to obtain a molding resin composition.
