Title:
PRODUCTION OF SILVER HALIDE PHOTOGRAPHIC EMULSION
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH0882882
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To stably produce a silver halide emulsion less liable to fog and having high-contrast photographic characteristics and high covering power by incorporating low mol.wt. gelatin having a specified average mol.wt. and contg. benzotriazole or its deriv.

CONSTITUTION: Low mol.wt. gelatin having an average mol.wt. of 5,000-70,000 and contg. benzotriazole or at least one kind of its deriv. is used as protective colloid. In the case of an average mol.wt. of <5,000, gelatin is not suitable because the viscosity of a prepd. emulsion is excessively low and silver halide particles are liable to settle slowly when stirring is suspended. The pref. concn. of the low mol.wt. gelatin is 0.05-15wt.%. In a process for producing the objective silver halide emulsion, silver halide particles are formed at 5-30°C reaction temp.
