To obtain a solidified vitamin E solidified in a high concentration on an industrial scale by reacting an oily tocol derivative with a betaine in the absence of organic solvent to produce the clathrate compound of the betaine with the tocol derivative.
This method for producing solidified vitamin E comprises reacting (A) an oily tocol derivative with (B) a betaine (preferably a pulverized betaine) in a slurry state to produce a stable clathrate compound. The component A is preferably reacted with the component B in water as a solvent in a slurry state. The component B is especially used as a 5% to saturated aqueous solution, and the component A and the formula B are reacted in a component A: component B molar ratio of 1:(1/2 to 10) at a temperature of 10-90°C. The component A includes α-tocopherol.
