Title:
PRODUCTION OF SULFUR-CONTAINING L-AMINO ACID
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS62220195
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To enable easy production of a large amount of L-cysteine and/or L-cystine, by reacting a β-substituted L-alanine with hydrogen sulfide in an aqueous medium in the presence of a tryptophan synthase.

CONSTITUTION: A β-substituted L-alanine of formula [X is halogen, -OR or -SR (R is H, alkyl, acetyl, benzyl or sulfonic acid group)] is made to react with hydrogen sulfide in an aqueous medium in the presence of a tryptophan synthase. The reaction is preferably carried out in an aqueous medium of 6W10pH at 20W60°C. The tryptophan synthase can be extracted e.g. from cultured cell of Escherichia coli MT-10232 (FERM BP-19).
