Abstract:

PURPOSE: To easily mass-produce a thermoplastic elastomer which is excellent in flexibility, mechanical strength, flow characteristics and moldability, exhibits excellent rubber elasticity over a wide temperature range and can be suitably used for molding automobile parts, household electrical appliance pgts, various wire coverings and various industrial parts where improvements in rubber elasticity, mechanical strengths and rate of molding, yield in molding, etc., are desired.
CONSTITUTION: A process for producing a thermoplastic elastomer, which comprises kneading a resin composition consisting of 100 pts.wt. ethylene/α-olefin/non-conjugated diene copolymer rubber (a), 5-300 pts.wt. polypropylene resin (b), 0.001-5 pts.wt. hydrosilylation catalyst (C), etc., in a batch kneader, extruding the kneaded material in a sgeet form through a strainer type extruder using a die in the form of a sheet of at most 10mm in thickness, water-cooling the extruded sheet, cutting it with a pelletizer to form pellets, and mixing the resin composition in pellet form with 0.5-30 pts.wt. crosslinker (d) comprising an organosiloxane having at least two SiH groups in the molecule to effect dynamic crosslinking in a continuous kneader.
