PURPOSE: To provide a method for producing a vinyl acetate resin-based emulsion with a low residual monomer content and a low malodor and obtain an adhesive composition, consisting essentially of the vinyl acetate resin-based emulsion and produced by the method.
CONSTITUTION: The method for producing a vinyl acetate resin-based emulsion is to add one or more selected from the group consisting of an azo-based catalyst, an anionic or a nonionic emulsifying agent, styrene dimer, polypropylene glycol methacrylate and maleic anhydride after completing the addition of a polymerization catalyst in the method for producing the vinyl acetate resin- based emulsion by carrying out the emulsion (co)polymerization of vinyl acetate monomer alone or the vinyl acetate monomer with a monomer copolymerizable therewith in the presence of a protective colloid using the polymerization catalyst. Furthermore, this adhesive composition consists essentially of the vinyl acetate resin-based emulsion produced by the method for production.
