Title:
PROPULSION METHOD AND DEVICE OF VERTICAL TAKEOFF/LANDING AIRPLANE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3790820
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a propulsion method and device for a vertical takeoff/landing airplane capable of changing the operating condition over the range covering from hovering to motions in a lateral plane without variation of the fuselage in the vertical direction resulting from a time lag in association with a change in the engine output. SOLUTION: The levitating thrust force for the fuselage is generated as a reaction force to the blowout flow from fans 6a-6f driven by a mounted engine. A plurality of louvers 8a-8f are installed in the back stream of the fans, and the hovering condition is generated by inclining those 8c and 8d of the louvers in the opposite directions to each other for setting off their propulsive forces in a lateral plane. The moving condition is changed from hovering to the motions in the lateral plane by the propulsive force in the lateral plane produced by changing the inclinations of the louvers 8a, 8b, 8e, 8f. The varied portion of the levitating thrust force can be set off by adjusting the inclination angle of the louvers 8c and 8d without changing the engine output.
