Title:
PROTECTIVE OVERCOAT FOR PHOTOGRAPHIC ELEMENT CONTAINING ENZYME-TREATED BIOPOLYMER
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2002169259
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To provide a processing solution permeable protective overcoat for a photographic element having water resistance in a final processed product.

The photographic element includes (a) a base, (b) a silver halide emulsion layer laid on one face of the base and (c) the processing solution permeable protective overcoat formed from a composition containing 10-50% by weight of polysaccharide or its derivative on dry basis and 50-90% by weight of hydrophobic water-insoluble particles having 10-500 nm average diameter, at least 50% of which contain a polymer having <80°C Tg (glass transition temperature). After the polysaccharide is enzymatically removed from the overcoat, the hydrophobic particles join and form a continuous layer.
