Abstract:

To efficiently obtain the subject high-purity compound by treating S,S-ethylenediamine-N,N'-disuccinic acid with an organic solvent having high solubility to water.

S,S Ethylenediamine-N,N'-disuccinic acid in a solid state is subjected to spraying or immersing treatment with an organic solvent having ≥10 g/100 g water solubility to water at 25°C (e.g. methanol, acetone or tetrahydrofuran) in an amount of normally 0.5-200 wt.%, preferably 1-20 wt.% (in the case of spraying) or 50-150 wt.% (in the case of immersion) and then, the residual solvent attached to the compound is removed to efficiently provide the objective compound having ≤0.5 wt.%, preferably ≤0.3 wt.% fumaric acid and/or maleic acid content and hardly containing attached water.
