Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power-assisted bicycle with excellent control responsiveness, manufacturable at a low cost with less modification from a regular bicycle.
SOLUTION: The power-assisted bicycle 1 comprises stepping force detecting means (14 and 99) for detecting the stepping force, a rotational speed sensor 220 for outputting the rotational speed signal corresponding to the bicycle speed, an electric motor 37 for outputting the auxiliary power added in parallel to the stepping force, and a single chip (16-bit) microcomputer 14 which collectively controls the electronic processing of the power-assisted bicycle and controlling the electric motor 37 by the pulse width modulation control system so as to determine the auxiliary power and output the auxiliary power based on the detected bicycle speed and the stepping force.
