Abstract:
To provide a rack for steering gear and establish a method to manufacture such racks capable of generating a stable steering feeling owing to smooth operating motions by suppressing the change in the friction and emission of hammering.
A rack and pinion type steering gear is to make steering by converting the rotation of a pinion generated by the steering force into linear motions of a rack, wherein the rack 1 of the steering gear is structured so that the size between the tooth flank 1a of rack and its back surface 1b is held constant over the longitudinal direction.
