To provide a radial sealing mechanism for a rotary regenerative heat exchanger, which prevents leakage of fluid from the time of cooling to the time of rated loading, suppresses wear at a radial sealing portion, reduces loading on a fan and a drive motor, and reduces the capacity of the fan.
The mechanism is constituted of; a sealing plate 8 which is fixed being bent along a high temperature side edge of a diaphragm plate 1b set up radially in a rotor of the rotary regenerative heat exchanger, and in the running direction at the position apart from the edge; a thin sealing plate 9 which is fixed at the rear of the plate 8 being bent at an angle equal to or larger than that of the plate 8, along the edge of the plate 1b so as to protrude more than the end of the plate 8, and at the position apart from the edge; and a rear backup plate 10 which is fixed at the rear of the plate 9 being bent at an angle equal to that of the plate 9 so as to step back from the end of the plate 9, and along the edge of the plate 1b, and at the position apart from the edge.
