To provide a diaphragm type reaction device which can avoid the danger of explosion and safely produce an oxygen-containing organic compound in a high yield, on the production of the oxygen-containing organic compound by the oxidation reaction of a hydrocarbon as the raw material.
This reaction device is characterized by disposing a diaphragm type catalyst 3 for activating a passing substance to divide a reaction vessel 8 into a plurality of divided chambers, forming one chamber (2) of the adjacent chambers among a plurality of the chambers made by dividing the reaction vessel 8, in a state that a gas to be activated with the above diaphragm type catalyst can flow 6, 7, also forming the other adjacent chamber 1 made by the division in a state that the above-described substance and a compound to be reacted can flow (4, 5), activating the substance to be activated, when passed through the diaphragm type catalyst, and then reacting the substance with a compound to be reacted.
