Abstract:

To obtain a new reagent for optical resolution of an alcohol and to provide a method for efficiently producing an optically active alcohol using the reagent for optical resolution.

The reagent for optical resolution of an alcohol represented by formula (3) (Ar4 is a phenyl group or a naphthyl group which may be substituted; R is a 1-6C alkyl group or a 3-6C cycloalkyl group) comprises a benzoic acid is represented by formula (1) (Ar1 is a phenyl group which may be substituted) and an optically active amine represented by formula (2) (Ar2 and Ar3 may be the same or different and are each a phenyl group; * is an asymmetric point).
