To provide a recording device capable of viewing a broadcast program recorded on a first recording medium even if the recording device is repaired, for example.SOLUTION: A recording device 2 includes: a tuner 8 for receiving a broadcast program; a first encryption processing unit 28 for encrypting the received broadcast program using a predetermined first encryption key; a recording unit 24 for recording the encrypted broadcast program on an external HDD 6; a generation unit 26 for generating a second encryption key on the basis of information unique to the recording device 2; and a second encryption processing unit 30 for encrypting the external HDD 6 with the second encryption key.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
