Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize detection of a failure of a recording head at an early stage while reducing stress concerned with recording throughput to a user.SOLUTION: For the purpose, a recording device configured to perform recording on a recording medium while reciprocally scanning a carriage mounted with a detachable recording head performs the following processes. Namely, a voltage supplied to the recording head through the carriage is monitored, and the monitored voltage is compared with a predetermined threshold at first timing accompanying recording operation so as to examine whether or not the recording head gets out of order based upon a result of comparison. Further, it is determined, based upon an operation state of the recording head, whether or not examination is performed at second timing having higher frequency than that of the first timing. Then, control is performed so as to perform the examination even at the second timing in addition to the first timing based upon a result of determination.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 6
