Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording device capable of performing a high-quality recording by using a highly accurate and high-resolution encoder signal, and a recording method thereof.SOLUTION: In a recording device including a carriage on which a recording head is mounted, and an encoder for reading a scale having two rows of slits arranged at a fixed interval and shifted from each other by a 1/4 cycle following the movement of the carriage, the following method is executed. A rising edge interval (T) of an A-phase encoder signal output from the encoder is measured following the carriage movement. Then, rising and falling edge intervals (T1, T2, T3, and T4) of A-phase and B-phase encoder signals are measured. A difference between an edge interval (T/4) and the measured edge interval is compared with a predetermined threshold value. Heat pulse signals are generated to drive the recording head on the basis of an edge interval (T') obtained by correcting the measured edge interval (T) when the difference exceeds the threshold value and on the basis of the measured edge interval (T) when the difference is equal to or lower than the threshold value.
