PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce or avoid the possibility that an encoder scale is charged, and dust and the like are attracted and adhere thereto in a recording device.SOLUTION: A printer 1 comprises: a recording head 10; an encoder 40 detecting operation of a conveyance drive roller 15a; an encoder scale 41 comprising a read region 42 read by the encoder 40; and a static elimination part 43 comprising a static elimination brush part 44 brought into contact with the encoder scale 41 and a base part 45 supporting the static elimination brush part 44.
