PURPOSE: To smoothly carry out a replacement of transfer paper by separating a winding roll from a feed roll, then arranging transfer paper between a thermal head and a platen roller when a transfer paper cartridge is mounted, and allowing the separated winding roll to approach the feed roll when the transfer paper cartridge is taken out.
CONSTITUTION: A feed roll 7 around which transfer paper 6 is wound is introduced in a groove 4 and a transfer cartridge 1 with a winding roll 8 introduced in a groove 5 is placed in a receiving device. The winding roll 8 is fitted into a U notched part 17 at the tip of a lever 16. After this, if the winding roll 8 is fitted into the U notched part 17 at the tip of the lever 16, a motor 19 is actuated. Then a lever 16 rotates counterclockwise and the roll 8 is set at a specified position from the groove 5 of a transfer paper storage section 2 by operation of the lever 16. If the transfer paper 6 is taken up by the winding roll 8, and replaced by a new transfer paper 6, the process opposite to the mentioned one takes place. The roll 8 is placed in the groove 5 on the transfer paper storage section 2 of the cartridge 1.
