Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the load of a main bus.
SOLUTION: A main CPU 44 transforms the coordinate of a polygon corresponding to the operation of a user at a manipulator and transmits the data of that polygon through a main bus 41 to a programmable packet engine(PPP) 48. The PPP 48 calculates the Z value showing the depthwise position of the polygon from the coordinate values of apexes of the polygon supplied from the main CPU 44, divides the polygon into several pieces of sub-polygons corresponding to the Z value, transforms the coordinate values of apexes of these sub-polygons corresponding to a normal vector and a curved surface parameter and generates a curved surface composed of the sub-polygons. A graphic processing unit(GPU) 49 writes the pixel data of sub-polygons generated by the PPP 48 into a frame buffer 58 and performs rendering processing.
