To provide an video data reproducing device, etc. which make reproduction format reflecting intention of a provider possible for the reproduction format at a special reproduction time of a picture-in-picture video.
The video data reproducing device includes: a flag read unit 101 for reading a flag for indicating the reproduction format at the special reproduction time from video data; decoding units 102, 103 for decoding two blocks of the video data; a synthesis unit 106 for combining the decoded videos and outputting the combined video; and a management unit 109 for controlling operation of the decoding units 102, 103 and the synthesis unit 106 according to the value of the flag. It manages the reproduction format of the special reproduction at the picture-in-picture reproduction time according to the value of the flag.
