Title:
RETAINING DEVICE FOR THUMB-TURN SHAFT IN LOCK
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3963992
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent locking and release by the fault or intention of a third person by conducting the operation of a thumb-turn for a cylinder lock only by a specific person such as a janitor by inserting and retracting an inner key.
SOLUTION: The indoor-side end section of the operating member 5 of the cylinder lock 3 is bent in a U shape, and an engaging piece 53 is formed and rocked with rotation between the releasing place and locking place of the thumb-turn shaft 2 by operating a thumb-turn 21. The engaging piece 53 is constrained at the locking place or the releasing place by a control piece 6 urged so as to occupy the place of engagement by a compression spring 62 under normal conditions, in which an inner key 8 is inserted into an inner-key inserting path 71 in a lock box 1, and the rotary operation of the thumb-turn shaft 2 by the thumb-turn cannot be conducted. The retaining and constraint of the engaging piece 53 by the control piece 6 is released by inserting the inner key 8 into the inner-key inserting path 71 through the opening 17 of the lock box 1 by a janitor, etc., normally holding the inner key, and the thumb-turn shaft can be turned by the thumb-turn 21.
