To prevent the diffusion of light on an interface to improve transparency, and improve the erasing property of an image by setting a diffusion peak angle by a light diffusion method in a specific range in a specific temperature range of the melting point of an organic low molecule material having a lowest melting point in two kinds or more of organic low molecule substances to be diffused in a thermal layer.
Reversible thermal recording material is formed by providing on the carrier a thermal layer consisting mainly of parent resin and two or more kinds of organic low molecular substances dispersed in the parent resin and having a transparency changed reversibly depending on temperature. In this case, the recording layer should have a peak angle of 6-30° to be diffused by a diffusion method in a temperature range which is 10-20°C higher than the melting point(mp) of the organic low molecular substance of a lowest melting point. The low molecular substances are an (a) component: monocarboxylic acid (m.p. 60-90°C), a (b) component: aliphatic ester, multivalent alcohol dialiphatic ester (m.p. 50-80°C), and a (c) component: aliphatic dicarboxylic acid (m.p. 100-130°C).
