Abstract:
PURPOSE: To eliminate clatters in a roll thrust direction and to improve the dimensional accuracy of products by moving a wedge block holding a wedge angle in a vertical direction by a clamping cylinder and moving the clamping block fitted to this wedge block in a transverse direction.
CONSTITUTION: A clamping block 5 held at top and bottom by housing liners 3 is provided with the wedge angle and is, therefore, moved in the roll thrust direction according to movement of the wedge block 4 in the downward direction by the upper clamping cylinder 6. This clamping block is brought into tight contact with a bearing housing liner 11, by which the clatters in the roll thrust direction are decreased to zero. The wedge block 4 is moved upward by the lower clamping cylinder 7 to generate a spacing in the roll thrust direction at the time of removing the roll. A construction to assist the movement of the clamping block 5 by a guide plate 9 to permit easy returning of this block to its home position at the time the wedge block 4 moves upward is adopte.
