To enable highly accurate rolling hardly having the change of wear coefficient caused by the wear of rolling rolls by coating recessed parts with metal for preventing foreign matters from sticking after forming the recessed parts of a specified depth on the surface of a roll.
After forming a recessed and projection part having the depth of recessed parts of 5-100μm and the flat area ratio of projecting parts of 10-80% is formed on the surface of the rolling roll 1 by electrolytic etching, the recessed parts are coated with the metal 5 for preventing foreign matters from sticking such as metallic chromiunm and a nickel-phosphorus alloy. Thus, the fine ruggedness 4 in the bottom part of the recessed part 2 is flatened and, also, by coating the projecting part 3 with the metal 5 for preventing foreign matters from sticking of hard metal, wear resistance of the projecting part 3 is improved and the durability of the roll 1 is raised. Because high draft rolling is enabled in the early stage of rolling, the accuracy of rolling is raised. Furthermore, dents or the like of the rolled steel strip are reduced and the quality and yield are improved.
