PURPOSE: To reduce pulsation as well as noise of a refrigerant by forming a clamp part bent inward, in a peripheral part of a cuplike discharge muffler, while installing a recess engaging this clamp part on an outer circumferential surface of a bearing-cum-end plate.

CONSTITUTION: A cylinder chamber 19 is partitioned by closing both upper and lower openings of a cylinder with a pair of bearing-cum-end plate. In a cuplike discharge muffler 26, a clamp part 26a bent inward is formed its peripheral part, and a recess 17b engaging this clamp part 26a is formed on an outer circumferential surface of the bearing-cum-end plate 17. The cuplike discharge muffler 26 dispenses with a mounting bolt and is firmly clamped in a closed state by being pressed in the recess 17b of the bearing-cum-end plate 17. Consequently, muffler capacity is increased as much as a portion for volume of the bolt, therefore pulsation as well as noise in a rotary compressor can be checked.
