To provide a rotary cooler capable of shortening cooling time of granular ash separated from metal slag.
The rotary cooler is provided with a pipe body 21 turnably supported on a base 25, a driving device 22 turning the pipe body 21 around its axis, and a water spraying device 23 arranged above the pipe body 21 to spray cooling water on an outer surface of the pipe body 21. At least one reversing member 37 for reversing the granular ash 4 is provided on an inner circumferential face of the pipe body 21. A plane part perpendicular to a perpendicular line passing through the axis of the pipe body 21 is formed in a portion of the reversing member 37 in a pipe body 21 axis side. The plane part is extendingly formed from one end side to another end side of the pipe body 21 in an axial direction of the pipe body 21, and such that width direction both ends perpendicular to the axis of the pipe body 21 are continuous with the inner circumferential face of the pipe body 21.
