To eliminate some disadvantages found when a processed item such as waste materials or the like is processed by a rotary heating and processing device, feeding of the processed item is started after a temperature in a rotary cylinder reaches up to a set processing temperature corresponding to an object of processing, and when an operation of a furnace is started, if it is tried to be heated up to a set temperature, it takes a substantial time until it reaches the set processing temperature due to the fact that the furnace is kept at its normal temperature, a starting of feeding the processed item is delayed, its working time is reduced and a working efficiency is decreased.
A helical hot air gas guiding plate 2c is arranged at an outer surface of a rotary cylinder 2 covered by a heating jacket 3 to aerate air while the hot air gas is being rotated. Its rotating direction is made opposite to a rotating direction of the rotary cylinder 2. When the operation is started, an initial heating set temperature Fh higher than a set processing temperature St is set, this is rapidly heated up to Fh and after it reaches the Fh value, the setting is returned back to the set processing temperature St and when it reaches the set processing temperature, feeding of the processed item is started and the time up to the starting of feeding is shortened.
