To obtain a rubber composition which, when used in a tire except its tread, can give a pneumatic tire prevented from hardening during running, giving excellent comfortableness of drive even in the final stage of running and reduced in road noise by compounding a rubber component with a process oil and an oil absorbent.
100 pts.wt. rubber component (A) is compounded with 1-200 pts.wt. at least one process oil (B) selected among aromatic process oils, naphthenic process oils, and paraffinic process oils and 1-100 pts.wt. at least one oil absorbent (C) selected among oil coagulating type absorbents and gel swelling type absorbents having an absorptivity of at least twice per unit weight of component B. This composition is optionally mixed with suitable common additives, the resultant mixture is kneaded with rolls, an internal mixer, a Banbury mixer, or the like, and the resulting mixture is molded and vulcanized to form a pneumatic tire except its tread.
