Abstract:
PURPOSE:To obtain the subject composition, good in heat and impact resistance and gloss and useful as a molding material, etc., by dispersing a specific diene- based polymer in a copolymer matrix consisting essentially of a vinyl aromatic monomer and an unsaturated dicarboxylic acid anhydride monomer. CONSTITUTION:The objective rubber-modified vinyl aromatic resin composition is obtained by polymerizing a vinyl aromatic monomer (e.g. styrene) with an unsaturated dicarboxylic acid anhydride monomer (e.g. maleic anhydride) in the presence of a diene-based polymer consisting essentially of a block copolymer composed of a polymer block consisting essentially of a 1,3-butadiene monomer unit and a polymer block consisting essentially of a methyl methacrylate monomer unit and a radical polymerization initiator at 85 deg.C temperature for 4hr using a solvent such as methyl ethyl ketone in a completely mixing type reactor equipped with a stirrer. In this resin composition, the diene-based polymer is dispersed in the form of particles in the copolymer matrix consisting essentially of the vinyl aromatic monomer unit and the unsaturated dicarboxylic acid monomer unit.
