PURPOSE: To make it possible to form a rust-preventive agent for an automobile body, which is excellent in rust-preventive power, durability and water resistance and whose rust-preventive effect endures very long as compared with that of a conventional rust-preventive agent, by mixing a thermosetting resin with rust-preventive additives and a zinc powder at a specified mixing ratio.
CONSTITUTION: This rust-preventive agent essentially consists of a thermosetting resin (a) comprising a base resin and a curing agent, at least one rust-preventive additive (b) selected from among a sulfonate, oxidized microcrystalline wax, oxidized petrolatum and oxidized paraffin and a metallic soap, and a zinc powder (c). The mixing ratio among said components (a)W(c) in terms of a weight ratio based on nonvolatiles is such that 10W100pts.wt. component (b) and 5W100pts.wt. component (c) are present per 100pts.wt. component (c).
