To assemble a rotary valve improved in assembling workability while ensuring the sealing property, in an intake manifold in a variable intake device of a multi-cylinder internal combustion engine wherein the rotary valve is rotatably inserted into an insertion hole formed on the intake manifold by inwardly opening the ways of plural intake passages.
An engagement groove 35 extended along an axis of the insertion hole 20 is formed on an inner face of the insertion hole 20, circular arc- shaped seal rings 36 respectively having a pair of arm parts 36b engaged with the engagement groove 35 on its both ends and surrounding the rotary valve 26, are respectively mounted in plural mounting grooves 46 formed on an outer periphery of the rotary valve 26, and fitting projections 41 fitted in mounting grooves 40 formed on the inner face of the insertion hole 20 are formed on plural seal plates 37 extended in the axial direction of the insertion hole 20 in a state of being abutted on the outer peripheries of the seal rings 36 and the rotary valve 26 on plural points located at intervals in the circumferential direction of the seal ring 36.
