To suppress variations in surface pressure of a secondary battery which results from charging or discharging.
A secondary battery (1) has: a power generation element (20) charging and discharging and a case (10) formed into a cylindrical shape and housing the power generation element. The power generation element has a laminated body (25) and a shaft core (24). The laminated body is formed by laminating a positive electrode plate (21) and a negative electrode plate (22) with separators (23) sandwiched therebetween and includes a reaction region (A) where chemical reactions, resulting from charging or discharging, are caused. The laminated body is wound around the shaft core so as to be arranged along a periphery of a predetermined shaft. The shaft core is in contact with the laminated body at both end parts (B) of the reaction region in the direction that the predetermined shaft extends and is separated from the laminated body at a region of the reaction region excluding both end parts.
