Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide a process for producing artificial snow and provide artificial snow seed free from various problems inherent to conventional natural snow and artificial snow, having a kinetic friction coefficient (μk) nearly equal to that of natural powdery snow, having excellent runnability of ski and suitable especially for the skiing slope of an indoor skiing course.
CONSTITUTION: The artificial snow seed is composed of a highly water-absorbing non-adhesive resin particles surface-coated with a fluorine-containing material and/or a silicone oil and maintaining the spherical form even in a water- absorbed state. The artificial now can be produced by making water absorbed to the artificial snow seed and freezing the water-absorbed seed.
