PURPOSE: To make compounding control highly accurate without changing the strength of coke by setting transferrable hydrogen present in coal to a parameter and evaluating coal on the basis of a parameter consisting of average reflectivity, Gieseler flowability and a transferrable hydrogen amt.
CONSTITUTION: It is necessary that the softened and molten state coal at 400-500°C is stably continued in order to increase the strength of formed coke. Therefore, it is necessary that reaction wherein the org. compd. constituting coal is decomposed and stabilized by heat to become a low molecular substance is superior to reaction wherein the org. compd. becomes a polymeric substance by nuclear bonding without being decomposed and stabilized. Therefore, it becomes important that hydrogen stabilizing a radical formed by thermal decomposition in coal is present and transferrable hydrogen stabilizes a thermal decomposition fragment. Further, by making the amt. of transferrable hydrogen constant, the stabilization ratio of the thermal decomposition fragment can be kept and the viscosity of coal in a reaction system can be made constant. Therefore, the strength of coke formed from raw material coal also becomes constant and can be controlled and kept.
