To provide a method for selecting an optimum server for each user according to the intention of a network administrator in a network realized by interconnecting a plurality of LANs.
A server selecting apparatus 20 includes: a path information collecting means 21 for collecting user terminal identifiers and path information up to user terminals; a particular relaying apparatus table 22 for describing a cross-reference between identifiers of servers and identifiers of relaying apparatuses (particular relaying apparatuses) for particularizing a path to a server; and a candidate selecting means 23 that compares the identifier of the relaying apparatus included in the path information up to a user point with the identifier of the relaying apparatus configuring the path information up to each server in orders of closer observing points, and replies the server identifier cross-referenced to the relaying apparatus identifier as a server which the user accesses when the identifiers of both the relaying apparatuses are coincident.
