PURPOSE: To provide a compsn. which contains the sesquiterpenoid isocyanide compsn. collected from marine sponge Bubaris species and is useful as an anticancer, antiviral and antifungal compsn.
CONSTITUTION: The marine sponges of Bubaris species are collected and are brought into contact with an org. solvent, such as ethyl acetate, to obtain an extract which is then divided by chromatograpny, by which fractions are obtd. Further, the novel compsn. of the formula is obtd. from various kinds of the fractions. The anticancer, antiviral and antifungal agent is obtd. by incorporating the compsn. of the formula as an active component therein, mixing the compsn. with a carrier or a diluting agent and subjecting the mixture to pharmaceutical manufacturing. The compsn. of the formula is incorporated into the agent at 0.01 to 10 micrograms to the 105 cancer cells as the min. amt. considered necessary for the activity. Further the compsn. is useful also as a starting raw material or intermediate for synthesizing an analgesic or other compsns.
