PURPOSE: To simplify the structure and to improve reliability, by providing a plurality of protruded parts on the peripheral surface of the cylinder of the endoder, providing limit switches at the positions facing the protruded parts, and extracting the outputs.
CONSTITUTION: The cylindrical encoder 3 is fixed to a shaft 2 of a servomotor 1. The protruded parts 4, 4', 4"... are provided on the peripheral surface of the cylinder. The limit switches 5, 5', 5"... are provided at the positions facing the protruded parts. The outputs are taken out of terminals 6, 6', 6"... In this case, even though the shaft 2 is moved in the axial direction or expanded or contracted by the thermal expansion, each protruded part and each limit switch are contacted each other, and the possibility of erroneous operation is eliminated.
